Vermont State police now say they do not think an incident involving a school bus in Newbury was suspicious; instead they believe it was probably just a leaf peeper.
Police say it was reported that someone in a rented van followed a bus on its route along Route 5 Thursday and videotaped the bus and students.
However, investigators following up on the case say it was not as originally reported. Police were told the van followed the bus for several miles videotaping students, but the investigation revealed the van was behind the bus for less than half a mile, and the van only stopped at one bus stop because the bus had its four-way lights activated. The bus driver waved the van through and there were no further interactions.
Police say it appears the person in the van was most likely taking video or photos of fall foliage.
