THETFORD, Vt. -

Vermont State Police say a 19-year-old driver led troopers on a chase through several towns.

Troopers tried to pull over Luke Hafford for driving his truck without registration plates in Bradford. However, the West Fairlee man would not stop. He continued down Vermont 113.

Police say Hafford passed oncoming traffic and other drivers had to come to a dead stop to avoid hitting his car. Authorities said he reached speeds of 75 mph during some parts of the chase.

The chase ended when Hafford's truck hit a ditch and went airborne, and then landed on the opposite side of Barker Road.

Hafford was not hurt, but he is now in police custody.
