2 Bennington firefighters face fines for Mudders Day controversy

Posted: Updated:

Two Bennington firefighters are expected to face fines for setting a fire at a controversial spring event.

This happened because of a "Mudders Day" activity, a mud bogging event in May that made its way onto YouTube. A camper was set on fire and a vehicle then drove through it. Ryan Nystrom, 28, and Roger Hughes, 35, will pay the price for setting that fire. They say they only started it assuming the event already had its required permits.

Fifteen firefighters were suspended for participating in this event.
