HAMPTON, N.Y. -

A big theft-- literally-- near the Vermont border.

A 70-foot mobile home was stolen from a parking lot in Hampton, N.Y. Police say on Sept. 23, someone backed up a truck, hitched up the $50,000 trailer home and took off. It was last seen headed toward the Vermont border on Route 4.

The mobile home was parked at a diner awaiting delivery to new owners in Vermont when the crook or crooks made off with it.

"The Big Apple Diner is a convenient place and let us park here for years," said Mike Bilodeau of Mike's Mobile Home & Transport Sales. "I'm bound and determined we are going to find it."

The mobile home has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, central AC and had some furniture inside.

The owner is offering a $2,500 reward for the recovery of the trailer. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 518-746-2482. Click here for more from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
