MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont's 2014 teacher of the year has been narrowed to three finalists.
Vermont's education secretary says the choices are Katy Farber, a sixth-grade teacher at Rumney Memorial School in Middlesex; Luke Foley, a grades 9-12 STAR program teacher at Northfield Middle High School in Northfield; and Valerie Gasco, a grades 6-8 special education teacher at Riverside Middle School in Springfield.
This year 49 teachers were nominated for the honor.
The winner will be announced at the Oct. 15 meeting of the State Board of Education.
As teacher of the year, the winner will visit schools around the state, work with teachers and be a candidate for the National Teacher of the Year award.
