Report: Home sales up in Vermont

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Some encouraging signs about Vermont's real estate market, especially in the northwestern part of the state.

The latest market analysis from Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman shows the number of sold properties over the summer months was up nearly 17 percent in Chittenden, Franklin, Addison and Grand Isle counties when compared to the year before.

And the median residential sale price rose 3 percent to $242,500 for the four-county area.

"We're encouraged that this is really a sustainable recovery we are on. 2012 was much improved over the previous year and 2013 has seen additional improvement, we seen every month improvement over 2012," said Leslee MacKenzie, the president of Hickok and Boardman Realty.

MacKenzie expects the positive gains to continue into next year.
