Capt. Phillips, Tom Hanks discuss new film on 'Sunday Morning'

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The real Capt. Richard Phillips will appear on "CBS Sunday Morning" along with the man who plays him in a new film, Tom Hanks.

"Captain Philips" recently made its Vermont premiere; it debuts in theaters across the country later this month. The movie tells the story of Capt. Richard Phillips, a merchant marine from Underhill who was captured by Somali pirates in 2009 and rescued by Navy SEALs.

Tom Hanks stars in the movie as Phillips.

This weekend on "Sunday Morning," David Martin sits down with Hanks and Phillips to get their impressions of the film and the story behind it.

Martin asked Captain Phillips if he ever thought he might die.

"At any time it could have happened. Even at the initial attack anyone could have been shot by the spraying of the semi-automatic weapons," Phillips said.

You can catch the entire interview this Sunday on "Sunday Morning" at 9 a.m.
