BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Property records show the Burlington Free Press has sold seven of its 12 buildings in downtown Burlington for $2.8 million.
The newspaper sold the historic property on College Street to the Handy family and plans to move its newsroom, advertising and finance employees somewhere else downtown.
Records show the property was assessed at $3.3 million.
The Burlington Free Press reports that the building has been for sale for a year.
The Handy family, operating as The Great Cedars LLC, plans to redevelop the property into ground-floor shops or restaurants and housing and office space in the upper floors.
