Website rates accessibility of public places

Posted: Updated:

BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont residents and visitors who use wheelchairs have a new resource to find the state's most accessible restaurants, stores and other locations.

The Vermont Statewide Independent Living Council has revamped its website, previously called "Rolling Gourmet," and renamed it www.AccessibleAdventuresVT.org.

The new site is a peer-to-peer review forum where consumers can rate the accessibility of not just restaurants but public office facilities, parks and more.

Peter Kriff, the council's director, told the Bennington Banner that once someone submits a review, an email is sent to the business to allow them to respond or provide updates on any improvements they make.
