Brownington bow hunter bags record-breaking bear

BROWNINGTON, Vt. -

A hunter from Brownington bagged a record-breaking bear not far from his Northeast Kingdom home.

The 450-pound (dressed weight) black bear was taken with a bow and arrow. It sets a new state record.

Kevin Lemere killed it with one shot.

And luckily, he had some help getting it out of the woods from his 11-year-old son, and two 15-year-old girls who were hunting with him. They dragged it on a very big sled.

The previous record was a 423-pound bear taken in Waterford in 2008.
