After a successful summer trip, USA Football's Heads Up Program returned to Vermont this afternoon. This time, the emphasis on the Youth Football level in Fairfax. And they brought a special guest to lend a hand.
The Patriots football program welcoming former NFL tailback Ralph Kurek to town.
Kurek played five seasons for the Chicago Bears in the Mid-60's suiting up next to Hall of famers Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers and under legendary coach George Halas.
The Wisconsin native, who now lives in East Barnard, VT outside Woodstock, is serving as an ambassador for the program, instructing youth on the proper ways to tackle and reduce helmet contact that could lead to concussions.
Close to 100 players from around the state came out to participate in the Patriots clinic, which was one of two selected programs in Vermont this year. A solid turnout to learn from a man whose dedicated his life to the game of football.
