The city of Burlington will not ban military-style rifles and high capacity magazines.
That provision is in a larger gun control proposal. However, the Charter Change committee took it out last night.
The proposal still contains changes to concealed gun permits, firearm storage and banning weapons at bars.
Committee members dropped the controversial provisions to make the larger proposal more likely to pass.
The City Council will take up this issue later this month.
A public vote and Legislature approval are still required for any changes to the proposal.
