HANOVER, N.H. (AP) - Dartmouth College has been awarded an $18 million grant to support health care innovation and accelerate the development of new treatments.
The funding from the National Institutes of Health will be matched by an additional $20 million from Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system. The focus is on translational research, which aims to bring laboratory discoveries to clinical practice and transform scientific breakthroughs into new treatments and cures.
Dr. Alan Green, the grant's principal investigator, says people want to know that publicly funded research produces tangible benefits.
