MASSENA, N.Y. (AP) - The New York Power Authority is getting ready for the annual removal of docks and buoys along the St. Lawrence River.
Work will begin on Oct. 21 in the vicinity of the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project near Massena. The process is expected to take about two weeks, but it's dependent on river and weather conditions.
The power authority removes the docks and buoys each fall prior to icing conditions for safety reasons and to avoid damage during winter's sub-freezing temperatures. They will be reinstalled in the spring.
