Victim of baseball bat beating improves

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The victim of a baseball bat beating continues to improve.

Colleen Scarola, 36, was upgraded Friday to fair condition at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Scarola was hospitalized three weeks ago after police say her husband struck her in the head with an aluminum baseball bat during a fight at their Burlington home.

James Scarola, 40, is in jail facing a charge of second-degree attempted murder.
