New York Attorney General says veterans eligible for tax breaks

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, N.Y. -

New York's Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says military veterans are not getting all of their tax breaks.

The Schneiderman says, that is because local officials are steering veterans away from the 15-percent property tax exemption in New York.

The Attorney General's office says, veterans who served the last 23 years, including in Iraq and Afghanistan, are eligible for this tax break.

He says, there was some confusion about that and it may have resulted in vets getting turned away.
