Donations up at West Rutland Stuff-a-Truck

WEST RUTLAND, Vt. -

The second annual Stuff-a-Truck fundraiser in West Rutland has already topped last year.

It's held at the Price Chopper in West Rutland. The two day food drive has already exceeded the amount of food gathered last year. Organizers estimate by Sunday morning, more than 120 bags of food had been collected -- and cash donations were also rolling in. All of the food and proceeds will benefit the West Rutland Food Shelter.

Stuff-a-Truck organizer Juli Jakubowski said it's important to donate now, because the need during the winter months is great. "We do it right now to try and help them, because right now when it's starting to get cold -- especially in the winter season -- people want to pay for their gas and things like that and they don't want to have to think about what they are going to pay for," she said.

Another event-- the Hymns for Hunger Concert --  is took place Sunday evening at St. Bridget's Church is West Rutland.
