Vermont state-owned airports benefit from sequestration

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. -

Sequestration is actually benefiting small Vermont airports. These spending cuts are changing the way the federal government funds aviation.

It gave money to projects that were designed, had permits in place and contractors. One of the airports that will be raking in funds is the Morrisville Stowe airport with $3.85 million for its runway. The Rutland Airport will get two grants for a total of $4.5 million dollars for safety and other projects.

The Vermont Agency of Transportation says the nine state-owned airports received about $210,000 each.
