BURLINGTON, Vt. -

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - There's a new commuter bus route serving the eastern edges of Vermont's Chittenden County.

On Monday, the Chittenden County Transportation Authority launched the Jeffersonville Commuter route that will provide weekday service along the Route 15 corridor, serving Jeffersonville, Cambridge, Underhill, Jericho, and Essex Town as it heads into Winooski and Burlington.

The authority says the route offers two morning round trips, arriving in downtown Burlington at 7:45 and 8:15 a.m. and two afternoon trips that leave downtown Burlington at 4:30 and 5:10 p.m.

Officials determined the route was needed along the major commuting corridor into Chittenden County.

The federal government is paying 80 percent of the cost while the state is funding 20 percent.

The one-way cash fare is $2.
