The Vermont Elks held its annual Soccer Shoot at the Collins Perley Sports Center. Young boys and girls ages fourteen and under from Elks Lodges around the State competed with the winners advancing to the Area one Shoot in Auburn, MA.
"I was nervous in the beginning, but when I started to kick it went away," Shoot Competitor, Emily Willis said.
The program consists of two different contests that test different level skills. One contest has players trying to score in increasingly smaller goals, while the other contest consists of a full-size goal sectioned off, so points can be scored when the ball is kicked into a certain section.
"I just aimed for the four-point areas, because they were the easiest," Shoot Competitor, Dana Fuller said.
"It was a lot of fun," Shoot Competitor, Jodie Gratton said. "Everyone shows up and you want to prove to your family that you could do it."
