RUTLAND, Vt. -

There has been another delay for a major case in Rutland.

Alex Spanos, 24, is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly huffing chemicals and running over Carly Ferro with his car last year. The trial was scheduled to start in April, then delayed until this month. Now, the Rutland Herald reports Spanos' trial will begin in late May 2014.

The seven-month delay gives both the prosecution and defense more time to prepare for these charges which carry a minimum sentence of 20 years.

Court papers show Spanos had chemical gas in his blood stream. This is commonly found in products like dust-off which can be huffed to get high.
