Advocates and officials want to make Plattsburgh more bike and pedestrian friendly.
The Complete Streets Coalition held a public meeting Tuesday to address progress in Plattsburgh. The coalition aims for communities with roadways designed with all users in mind. Advocates say they anticipate it will take at least 20 more years before all streets can accommodate bikers and pedestrians, but that the end result will attract more people to the area.
"Quality communities are places they are attracted to and want to live in. They're often leaning more toward walking, running, biking as a quality of life for themselves," said Phil Von Bargen, the head of the planning department in the town of Plattsburgh.
Advocates say road improvements include better road markings showing areas for bikers and pedestrians.
