Lake Placid Police offer reward for information on railroad damage

Posted: Updated:

Lake Placid Police are offering a $10,000 reward for anyone who can help them find the culprit who damaged a New York tourist attraction.

The Adirondack Scenic Railroad runs between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports that when the operators tried to start up the train Wednesday they realized the electrical wires had been cut. The damage cost totaled nearly $50,000.

This will mean a major financial hit for the rail line, because it will have to shutdown for a few weeks. This includes not operating during the Family Halloween Train.
