Web Watch: Facebook privacy settings may put minors at risk

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Facebook is always updating itself and its security settings. However, the latest round of updates may come as a shock to some parents.

The social media site does not allow anyone under 13 years old to register. That rule is not changing, but the privacy given to the minor population on Facebook is disappearing.

It used to be that when children 13-17 posted pictues and comments on the web only their friends could see it. This was a way to keep them safe.

But now Facebook is changing that policy and allowing teenagers to reach a larger audience. Not everyone is thrilled about this news. Critics say it could mean more trouble for kids online.
