Burlington health facility for veterans set to open

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Final preparations are being made to open a new health facility for Vermont veterans.

The new community-based outpatient facility is on Lakeside Avenue in Burlington and replaces the Colchester office. It opens Oct. 21.

The new facility will allow patients to access a wider range of services, which will now include physical therapy, telemedicine and a yoga program, among others.

Clinic Director Jonathan Cohen says the easier it is for vets to seek care, the more likely they are to receive the services they need.

"So, we really try to offer the best services possible and are expanding the scope of our services year by year and will continue to do so in the future," Cohen said.

The main VA facility is located in White River Junction, but the Burlington-area has had an outpatient facility since 1993. Cohen says they currently serve about 4,500 patients.
