WASHINGTON -

All three members of Vermont's congressional delegation voted for the deal that ended the government shutdown.

Sen. Patrick Leahy is back in Vermont and says he hopes this is the last of the bitter budget battles.

"If we don't start having people back away from the extremists and start having Republicans and Democrats working together for the good of the country, not for the their own political bias, we're going to hurt this country," said Leahy, D-Vermont.

Both Democrats and Republicans in Congress immediately began reaching out to supporters after the deal, using the end of the shutdown for fundraising pitches.
