Cutting, scooping and carving: 900 pumpkins are being prepped for the Haunted Forest. The jack-o'-lanterns will be flickering away, lining the pathway through the dark, foreboding forest for a spooky theater in the dark. More than 400 volunteers put on the event.
"We get the pumpkin delivery on Wednesday, but we have 750 left to carve. Tomorrow is our big pumpkin-carving event, rain or shine," said Katie Ballard of the Haunted Forest.
The Haunted Forest combines theater, special effects, the dark and the spirit of Halloween. This year, the event will have some new unexpected twists.
"We have skinny skinless and the decomposers, a skeleton quartet that brings its own parodies and music to the forest with our animatronic pumpkin that's been a staple here for a few years," Ballard said.
To be a part of all this spooky action, be sure you get your tickets soon. Instead of running for two weeks this year, the Haunted Forest will only be running for one.
