BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A 21-year-old Vermont man has been placed on probation and ordered to serve 100 hours of community service, but isn't expected to serve any jail time for hosting a party where his 19-year-old friend was drinking alcohol before he died in a crash.
Trevor Murray of Bennington pleaded guilty in July to enabling Randy Blair Jr. to drink alcohol the night he died in a crash.
At a hearing Friday, Murray was put on probation for five years. The Rutland Herald reports that If he stays out of trouble, the felony charge will be expunged from his record.
Murray's attorney said Murray tried to take Blair's keys and to pull him from his pickup truck, but that Blair insisted on driving and crashed just 75 yards away.
