Burlington City Council takes up gun measures

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The Burlington City Council is taking up new gun control measures.

The proposal would require that you have permits for concealed weapons and that you store guns in locked containers. It would also allow police to take guns from people convicted of domestic violence and prohibit guns in bars.

If approved by the council, the charter change would go to a city-wide vote on Town Meeting Day and then would also need to be approved by the legislature.
