October is breast cancer awareness month and Clinton County doctors are using the extra publicity to push screenings.
The Cancer Services Program of Clinton County offers free screenings for women over 40 and men over 50 year round.
The program pays for office visits with a participating provider, clinical breast exams, pap smear and pelvic exams, mammograms and colonoscopys.
Program coordinators say breast cancer awareness month is a great time to remind people that screenings save lives.
Didi Remchuck from the Cancer Services Program of Clinton County says, "A lot of times people don't want to know, but I always say it's not going to make the cancer go away. It's not like you won't get cancer if I don't find out about it. So the best thing to do is get screening."
