BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A New York man has been sentenced to a little over 12 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to distributing cocaine and heroin in Vermont.
Videsh Raghoonanan, 26, of Queens was sentenced Thursday.
Court records say Raghoonanan sold large quantities of controlled substances, including a kilogram of heroin, during a drug distribution conspiracy from 2011 until he was arrested in December 2012.
Authorities said the drugs were obtained in New York and sent to Vermont for re-sale. They said he obtained handguns in exchange for some of the drugs and had them sent back to New York.
Five others convicted in the case are serving sentences ranging from 30 months to five years in prison. Three others have been convicted and await sentencing.
