Wheels for Warmth is rolling into Rutland.
The 9th annual event was started by Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott back when he was a state senator. It allows Vermonters to donate unwanted tires that are sold to benefit heating fuel assistance programs. For the first time, there is a drop-off location in Rutland City at Bond Auto.
Organizers like Casella Waste Management's Mike Casella say they hope the added drop-off location will make donating easier -- and bring in more tires. "Being from this area and having the facilities down here, where we can actually manage and collect the tires and then resell them -- we have some great partners. Bond is down here, as well and just us being in this area, it makes it an easy transition to actually move down to the area," he said.
Tires can be dropped off at Bond Auto, 7a.m. to 5 p.m. every day until Friday. For a list of other towns with tire drop-offs, click here.
