KILLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont's Killington Resort has become the first winter resort in the East to open for the 2013-14 season.
Killington had planned a partial opening for Friday for season pass holders and express card members. But conditions were favorable enough Thursday afternoon that it was able to get the season underway.
Killington usually prides itself on trying to have the longest season among eastern winter resorts. It offered skiing this past Memorial Day weekend, just five months ago.
Killington opens officially to the public Saturday with $49 lift tickets, for advanced and expert skiers and riders on the Rime trail.
