He tricked the IRS into giving him other people's tax returns, but now he's going to jail.
Craig Lee Workman, 42, of Florida pleaded guilty this week in federal court to tax fraud. Prosecutors say he stole identities and filed about 125 phony tax returns through H&R Block offices around Vermont and New Hampshire.
The scheme worked 25 times and Workman collected about $180,000 in tax refunds. But the IRS eventually caught on and now Workman faces up to ten years in prison.
