Game wardens seek help in Pittsford poaching

Posted: Updated:

PITTSFORD, Vt. (AP) - Vermont game wardens are asking for help from the public in catching the person responsible for poaching at least five deer in Pittsford.

Wardens say the deer were shot with a small-caliber rifle at night in the Fire Hill Road area.

Game Warden Dave Taddei tells the Rutland Herald the poacher or poachers are shooting both male and female deer.

He says the case is particularly wasteful because the deer carcasses have been left to rot with no meat being taken off the animals.

Wardens have substantially increased patrols in the area and hope tips from the public will help them catch whoever is responsible.
