DERBY LINE, Vt. (AP) - Officials say a Derby Line firefighter was treated and released for injuries he suffered when part of a roof collapsed on him while fighting a fire that destroyed a vacant home in the northern Vermont community.
Firefighter Tanner Jacobs was injured when a back wall and roof collapsed while fighting the Tuesday evening fire.
Fire Chief Craig Ellam tells the Caledonian Record (http://bit.ly/Hs5UW9) he's calling in investigators to determine the cause of the Highland Avenue fire, which was reported at about 8 p.m. Tuesday.
No one had lived in the house for years, but it was being renovated for sale.
Ellam says Jacobs' leg was trapped in the collapse. Other firefighters pulled him from the debris.
