Three Vermont law enforcement agencies are being recognized by a national police chief's organization -- for their traffic safety programs.
Vermont's DMV enforcement and safety division -- took first place in the special awards category. Its motor vehicle inspectors were honored for their efforts to raise safety standards for commercial drivers.
The Shelburne police department snagged second -- for excellence in highway safety initiatives and community outreach.
The Grand Isle County Sheriff's Department received a prestigious National Law Enforcement Challenge Award.
