Kids give Berlin seniors annual Halloween treat

Posted: Updated:

Muriel Benjamin and her neighbors at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin were in for a treat this Halloween.

They had all the little children come in all dressed up for Halloween and went around with their little treats," Benjamin said.

River Rock School students got these folks into the spirit of the holiday -- it's a tradition going on its seventh year. "Well I thought they were great. They sang quite a few songs and I was amazed by the little ones -- they remembered all those songs... really, really great," said Larry Wade, a Woodridge resident.

After the concert, the trick-or-treaters got to go around and grab their loot of candy. Woodridge residents were more than happy to be frightened by this group of ghouls.  "It's important to know that the kids, the teachers, the people in the community care about them and celebrate the holiday and try to make it a special day for them," said Ellen O'Hara, Woodridge's Activity Director.

It turns out the costumed concerts is fun for the kids too. "When we talk about Halloween and what you like best about celebrating Halloween at River Rock School, some of them say going to Woodridge," said River Rock School's Allison Caldwell.

A Halloween treat for people of all ages.
