Police track Rutland County burglar

CHITTENDEN, Vt. -

Police have a car, but they're still looking for the person who drove it to at least five home invasions.

On October 31st a heating company crew went to do some work at a home in Chittenden when they stumbled upon a thief stripping copper from the basement. The employees got the crooks keys and he fled on foot. During a search of the man's car police found a notebook with four Killington addresses -- all of which had been broken into that week.

"The suspect is described as a lone white male, approximately 5'7'' tall, roughly 160-180 lbs. He may have a tan complexion and he was clean shaven at the time of the burglary. He was somewhat polite and has short hair -- approximately 2 inches in length," said Vermont State Police Trooper Steven Gelder.

Police are not releasing the suspects name, but say he is from Rutland. If you have any information -- call the Vermont State Police.
