College students provide free tutoring

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

It's a service connecting students with other students for some homework help at the Fletcher Free Library.

The work study program at Albany College of Pharmacy has started a program called America Reads. Kids in grades 1-8 can get help with any subject -- free of charge -- from college students. And it's not just the younger students getting a hand. Mylove Oppong, a tutor with the program, says she gets just as much out of it as the kids she helps.

"There are a lot of things that you forget as you move up academically such as simple math like fraction, adding fraction, subtracting fraction, sometime become difficult as a student once you get into the more advance area, and this refreshes your memory," Oppong said.

The program also offers free tutoring at the Burnham Memorial Library in Colchester. Students are welcome to walk in every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday -- or call ahead to schedule an appointment.
