New Hampshire considers labeling GMO products

Posted: Updated:
CONCORD, N.H. -

New Hampshire is joining a growing list of states considering requiring companies to label genetically-modified foods.

A House bill in the Granite state recently passed a sub-committee and will be taken up by the full Environmental and Agriculture Committee on Thursday.

The New Hampshire Grocers Association says the legislation would raise food prices while supporters point to health concerns with GMOs.

The Concord Monitor reports that more than 20 states are working on similar legislation and 60 other countries already require labeling.
