Vermont's prison population is too big for our jails. There are 2,100 inmates and only 1,600 beds. So the state ships inmates to private prisons in Kentucky and Arizona.
That practice will continue. Seven Days is reporting that the state just signed a new contract with the Corrections Corporation of American for another two years.
