BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington will continue to participate in the federal Medicare program after the facility passed an inspection prompted by the death of an emergency room patient.
The hospital has said two nurses, who are no longer caring for patients, failed to provide immediate care for an unresponsive patient later found dead by a doctor.
The medical center reported the incident to regulators in early October, but did not say when the incident occurred or identify the patient or a cause of death.
The hospital has since revised its emergency room procedures.
The most recent inspection found "no deficiencies."
Hospital President Thomas Dee says the "incident does not define us."
