NY Trooper cleared of rape charge; 2 more trials pending
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - A New York state trooper has been acquitted of one set of rape charges lodged against him earlier this year.
After deliberating for about an hour, a Clinton County Jury of six men and six women on Wednesday found trooper Trevor Donah not guilty on all counts relating to claims that he assaulted, unlawfully imprisoned, and attempted to rape his former girlfriend in September 2008.
The 32-year-old Donah was arrested in February after two women said he had attacked them. Less than a week later, a third woman came forward and said he also had attacked her.
Authorities said the alleged crimes occurred between 2008 and 2012 while Donah was off duty and involved women he knew. Each of the other two cases is scheduled to have a trial.
