Posted: Updated:

An extra point in overtime by Woodstock Freshman, Nikolai Davis is the difference in a Wasps 20-19 win over Mill River in the Division 3 State Title game at Rutland High School.  The Championship is the third straight for top seeded Woodstock and the Wasps state best winning streak is extended to 31 games.

In overtime, both teams get a chance to score from the 10 yard line.  Mill River got the ball first and scored on a Dan Blanchard 15 yard run.  The extra point was blocked and the Minutemen only lead 19-13.

Woodstock got the ball back.  After a few plays, they had a fourth and goal situation from the one yard line.  Oliver Kaija took it in for the score, setting up Davis' game winning kick.

Mill River had a 13-0 lead at halftime.  Blanchard scored the first touchdown of the game in the first quarter on a 87 yard run.  The second Minutemen touchdown came in the second quarter on a Lincoln Pritchard 53 yard touchdown pass to Mark Goyette.

Woodstock got on the board in the third quarter on a Kaija three yard touchdown run, capping off a 12-play drive.  The tying score came with four minutes left in the fourth quarter on a Sam Cole one yard run and Davis extra point.
