O'Day Out Six Weeks

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

According to The UVM Athletic Department, Sophomore Center Ethan O'Day will miss about 6 weeks with a broken bone in his hand.   The injury occurred in the second half of UVM's season opening loss to St. Joseph's Saturday at Patrick Gym.  O'Day was tracking down an opposing player when he appears to get his right thumb caught on that player's jersey.  O'Day went to the bench moments later and had the thumb worked on by a trainer.  He went back in briefly later in the half, but it just wasn't feeling right.  This is the third long term injury to a Vermont basketball player since the summer.  Forward Brendan Kilpatrick is out indefinitely after having surgery on his foot and forward Ryan Pierson won't back until early 2014 after breaking his leg.
