Local experts say Vermont's energy market is in an uncertain and volatile state.
Associated Industries of Vermont held its 93rd annual meeting Tuesday morning, bringing together state and industry leaders.
In his lunchtime address, Lt. Gov. Phil Scott said the Legislature needs to focus on economic and fiscal issues more than social matters during the next legislative session.
"Vermont's energy future must be at the forefront of our economic concerns, as well, as we approach this year's budget, because without affordable power our economy-- I believe-- is in trouble," said Scott, R-Vermont.
Scott says the state needs to find a way to tackle ballooning social service and educational costs.
