Vermont veterans were honored with gold medals Tuesday. Korean War veterans were celebrated at the House chambers in the state's capital, for their service 60 years ago.
Every year for the past 10 years the state has held an awards ceremony for Vermont veterans, presenting them with service medals. This year Governor Shumlin and special guests presented the awards.
"This year marking the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, we're also working with the Republic of Korea to give out gold medals of appreciation to our Korean War veterans," said Richard Reed of Veterans Affairs Vermont.
The Korean consulate visited from Boston to help award Vermont veterans the medals.
