CVPH renovations nearly complete

Posted: Updated:
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

Work is nearly finished on an $8.5 million renovation at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

New York Congressman Bill Owens joined the hospital's staff Tuesday for a tour of the state-of-the-art unit. It includes 22 new, larger rooms that will offer patients and their families more privacy.

"They absolutely help with the healing... and I think it's also better for our staff," said Stephens Mundy, the president and CEO of CVPH. "It's just a better environment all-around."

Mundy says private rooms also greatly reduce the spread of infection.

The new floor is scheduled to open to patients next week. The majority of the cost is being funded by New York State. CVPH says it plans to renovate several more floors of patient rooms over the next few years.
