BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man has been sentenced to at least 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl in 2011.
Jay Allard of Bennington was convicted in May.
The Rutland Herald reports the girl, now 17, read a statement in court Tuesday saying the 55-year-old Allard knew she suffered from depression and took advantage of her.
Judge Cortland Corsones said Allard knew the girl was going through a tough time in her life and lured her with alcohol and marijuana.
Allard said he never meant for anyone to get hurt.
